Vanilla provides a trusted service

Vanilla operates at the edge of the Internet, to be closer to you, the customer. Our adsl service is an unshaped high quality service operating on the Verizon Network. We chose Verizon because of their great customer service and attention to excellent technology. We had tested both the IS (Internet Solutions service as resold by MWEB and others) as well as the SAIX (Telkom networks as resold by Telkom and most others), but we found the Verizon service to be superior to other SA networks at present. We supply adsl in order to provide a total service to our customers, although our core expertise lives in Domain Names services.

What you will need

You will need a computer, an adsl router, an adsl line and a (bottomless) Vanilla Cone, Cup or Tub of course.

Pricing (incl VAT)

• ADSL Cone, 500MB: R59 per month, usage over 500MB billed at R0.16 per MB.
• ADSL Cup, 1GB: R119 per month, usage over 1GB billed at R0.14 per MB.
• ADSL Tub, 3GB: R290 monthly, R2900 yearly.

These will continue to provide access after the threshold is met (i.e. uncapped and unshaped) although for additional useage a refundable deposit is required.

A gig is a unit of data. 1 gig allows you to send approximately 100 000 emails without attachments, browse 12 500 web pages or download 5 000 Word documents.

Consider that you need not pay for a Vanilla Cup (1GB ADSL) account unless you use 1GB much every month x12.

The monthly cost of an adsl connection is split between your Vanilla connection cost, and a Telkom line rental cost. Your choice of adsl line from Telkom will determine how fast your internet download and upload speeds will be.

To work out your monthly costs, you need to add these two together. Please note that Telkom charges a once-off installation fee of R404 on adsl lines.

Our service is NOT capped but we do charge for all usage over the threshold advertised. So if you use a Vanilla cone (500MB) account, and you use more than 500MB of bandwidth, then we will charge you an additional 16c for every MB that you use over the original 500 that comes with the Vanilla cone package.
